The folks at The Surtex Show were kind enough to interview me for their eNewsletter as a first-time exhibitor diving in to show at their NYC event at The Jacob Javits Center May 15 - 17. Image-wise, I included a teaser from work created in the wonderful Make Art That Sells Home Decor course I took with Lilla Rogers and Margo Tantau earlier this year. It was a brilliant, challenging class, and I learned a lot about the home dec market. I hit my stride during ceramics week and was downright giddy as I was preparing to share my final templated page. The artwork is primarily rendered in watercolor and acrylic inks, and is an abstraction of botanicals and animals found in and around the sea. This is part of what I'll be showing in my licensing portfolio for Surtex. I would love to see this become a reality in ceramics or melamine for those breezy summer parties.
