When you relaunch yourself after 15 years of doing the same thing, it's a touch overwhelming. Taking online continuing education courses, creating a new website, registering for a huge trade show, creating new work to attract the right kind of clients. And all as a sole proprietor...

The last year was spent honing in on what I want to do for the next few years of my career and I have landed on surface pattern design. A little burned out on stationery -- though I still want to license for the stationery world -- but very excited about new possibilities in textiles, home decor, children's products.

Particularly difficult is maintaining focus and setting up the right deadlines for yourself. So here I go. Come with me. Visit the blog from time to time and comment! And tell me your stories of a mid-life career change.
