Misha Zadeh (MEE-sha zah-DAY) was voted “Neatest Artist and Dresser” in her sixth grade class. She has felt obliged to maintain that title as her life's work.
Graduating from the University of Washington with degrees in Graphic Design and Interdisciplinary Visual Art, she worked for several award-winning design firms in Seattle before going off on her own to start Turquoise Creative. Begun as a freelance graphic design business, Turquoise soon ventured into the newly emerging indie stationery world.
Turquoise Creative’s unique line of handmade, cut-paper greeting cards and letterpress note cards debuted at the National Stationery Show and were soon picked up by high-profile boutiques throughout North America and Europe such as Barneys New York, Kate's Paperie and Liberty of London. Her cards have been featured in many publications including RealSimple, Lucky, Sunset, and O, the Oprah Magazine.
After a few years of primarily managing her wholesale stationery business, she leveraged her signature style into art licensing collaborations with online stationers Tiny Prints and Shutterfly, as well as established printed stationery leaders Chronicle Books and Madison Park Greetings.
Relaunching in 2016 as Misha Zadeh Illustration & Design, she debuted a new surface pattern portfolio at Surtex (NYC-based art licensing trade show), and has begun expanding her bold and colorful vision to collaborations in home decor and textiles. Misha's inaugural line of tableware, a licensed collection for 180 Degrees, was released at the January 2018 Atlanta Gift Market and shipped to retailers in July. Wholesale orders can be placed with a180 Degrees sales representative. Look out for a line expansion — which includes kitchen textiles — launching in January of 2019!
Misha lives in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood with her husband and their two boys. Her ideal day would include a single macchiato and croissant from Rosellinis, successful art creation, plenty of time with family, a loop or two around Greenlake, and ghormeh sabzi for dinner (made by her amazing mom). All with the sun in the sky (which makes you wonder about living in Seattle...)
